Notes

Learn how to add, link, and collaborate on notes directly inside your Forecastr model.

Notes let you capture context, questions, and commentary directly inside your Forecastr model - without having to leave the app or track it somewhere else. You can leave a general note, attach a note to a specific metric, or add a note to a specific cell in the table. You can also tag teammates in a note to loop them in, and they'll be notified by email and in their alerts inbox.

Accessing Notes

Click the Notes icon in the sidebar to open the notes panel. This shows every note attached to the current scenario.

Notes attached to a specific metric are shown with the metric name in green, so you can tell them apart from general notes at a glance. The green text can then be clicked upon to send you directly to the in-table note.

Types of Notes

There are three kinds of notes you'll see in the panel:

  • General Notes - Not tied to any particular metric or cell. Useful for broader commentary on the model or scenario.
  • Metric Notes - Linked to a specific metric in your model. These show up with the metric name in green.
  • Cell Notes - Added directly on a specific cell in the table. These are grouped together in their own Cell Notes section within the sidebar.

Adding a Note

  1. Open the notes sidebar and type your note into the box.
  1. Click Add Note to post it.

Once posted, your note appears in the general notes list.

Linking a Note to a Metric

After adding a note, you can link it to a specific metric in your model:

  1. Open the note you just created.
  1. Choose the metric you'd like to link it to.

The note will now appear both in the notes panel and directly next to that metric, with the metric name shown in green.

As an alternate way to add a note to a metric, you can right click directly on the metric’s name to attach a note to it.

Adding a Cell Note

To add a note to a specific cell in the table:

  1. Right-click the cell you want to comment on.
  1. Select the option to add a note.

A note icon appears on that cell so anyone viewing the table can see a note is attached and click to open it. You can also open a metric's note and click the date to jump straight to the cell it's attached to. Like all notes, cell notes also appear in the general notes list.

Tagging Teammates

While typing a note, you can tag other users in your model with the “@” symbol. When you tag someone:

  • They'll receive an email with the note, including what it says and which scenario it's in.
  • They can click a button in that email to open the note directly inside your Forecastr model.
  • They'll also see an alert in their Alerts Inbox (accessible from the user icon) letting them know they were mentioned, with a link to jump straight to the model.
